If you’ve been to any kind of rave, then you’ll have a small idea of what goes on in a much bigger form at Electric Daisy Carnival, an extravaganza that includes multiple stages of top-name DJs banging out tunes for the masses alongside carnival rides and art installations; while Southern California and Las Vegas host the biggest EDCs every year, Denver puts on a smaller version.

And now it’s all on film. Director Kevin Kerslake, who’s put together dozens of music videos and live performances, has outdone himself with the feature-length Electric Daisy Carnival Experience movie. “It’s different from anything I’ve done before in terms of scale, because there are so many artists throughout several genres,” he says. “This was interesting, to create this tapestry where different gen-res sit with others. I think the fabric of the film just had a little more texture than some of the others.”

Kerslake is being modest. Daisy features more than twenty top artists (Benny Benassi, Swedish House Mafia and Moby among them) performing live and offering up interviews — and each and every artist gave the film the thumbs-up before it was released. “The mood is pretty buoyant,” Kerslake says. “It really is just about keeping your foot on the gas, for the most part, and making sure that there’s a gentle spirit that courses through the whole film.”
