Bone Orchard Revival

Bone Orchard Revival
Sinister Soul Recordings

Bone Orchard Revival opens its self-titled album with a dusty, unhurried, reverb-drenched track called "Temptation" that would make an ideal soundtrack for walking through a graveyard — apt, considering the band's moniker. These Michigan transplants, now based in Denver, also dip into a fair amount of old-time country, blues and Americana. On the lively, foot-stomping "Lowdown Dirty Thief" and "Little Sad Things," singers Adam M. Arscott and Nicole Morris trade off vocals like an updated Johnny and June Cash. Arscott's raspy delivery recalls a less-gruff Tom Waits on "Shivering 'Neath The L Tracks" while conjuring The Future-era Leonard Cohen on "Ever Lovin' Man."
