Snowboarder Travis Rice and director Curt Morgan nearly blew the doors off the Ellie Caulkins Opera House the last time they were in town, showing their 2008 film That’s It, That’s All to a sold-out crowd. Now Rice says that was a mere baby step on their way to truly learning to fly.

“We learned so much making that project, but so much of it was just off-the-cuff running and gunning on the fly, doing what we could with what we had,” Rice says. “We took a year off in preparation for our next project and we went into it with much more focus.”

So stretch your wings before the Colorado premiere of their big-budget Brain Farm epic The Art of Flight tonight, and get ready to do some stargazing: Justin Timberlake and other A-list celebrities made it out for the film’s world premiere in New York earlier this month, and Rice’s tour posse includes pro snowboarders Nicolas Müller, Mark Landvik, Jake Blauvelt, Pat Moore, David “DCP” Carrier-Porcheron, Scotty Lago, Eero Niemela, Jeremy Jones and 2010/2011 rider of the year John Jackson.

You might also want to bring some earplugs. “It’s really an honor to be able to crank it up, blast our music, and know that we’re showing snowboard films in places more accustomed to hosting operas and stuff,” Rice says. “We’re making these films knowing that we’ll be bringing them to first-class venues and playing to huge sold-out crowds of core snowboarders, so we’re always going to be trying to bring a worthy show.”
