Scheduled on the actual date that Nirvana's Nevermind was released in 1991, this show (dubbed Come As You Are and slated for Saturday, September 24, at the hi-dive) features local talent covering songs from the entirety of the band's back catalogue. Everyone playing rock music since Nirvana — and, as Dave Markey's 1992 documentary suggests, punk — broke to the mainstream has felt the repercussions, musically and culturally. Some interpretations of the music will be as close to the original as you can get without actually being Nirvana. Others, such as those done by Hearts in Space and Le Divorce (pictured), will probably put quite a different spin on the music. In all cases, the bands will pay fine tribute to an album that crashed through the gates of the mainstream.
