Bowling for Dollars

“We like to call it ‘not your mama’s annual fundraiser,’” says Jami Duffy, executive director of Flobots.org, the charitable arm of local band Flobots. And Bowling Ball 3 is certainly different.

The event pits local celebrities — including members of DeVotchKa, OneRepublic, Bop Skizzum, the Colorado Rapids, the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls and, of course, the Flobots — against one another in a bowling tournament, while Churchill, Molina, Jonny 5, Bianca Mikahn and DJ Lazy Eyes perform.

There’ll also be an open bar with beer, wine and basic cocktails. For fancier drinks, guests will have to go VIP or drop a few dollars’ cash. Wahoo’s Fish Taco will provide the grub. An auction and free bowling will take place later in the night for those not ready to pony up $1,000 to $1,500 to enter their four-person team into the tournament.

Individual tickets range from $50 to $100, but it’s all for a good cause: All proceeds go directly to Flobots.org’s youth empowerment programs. The fun goes from 6 p.m. until midnight at Lucky Strike Belmar, 415 South Teller Street in Lakewood. Find out more or buy tickets at www.flobots.org.
