You might ask yourself why Chris Loffelmacher, the fount of creativity who runs the Denver Public Library’s Fresh City Life program, called tonight’s FCL panel discussion on art in the community “eatART.” Well, he’s happy to oblige with an answer: The moniker, it turns out, rose from a longtime fantasy he’s had about opening a restaurant with a view...of great art. “It’d be like a gallery with french fries,” Loffelmacher muses, and that’s that. And eatART: The State of Art in Our Community will open the discussion to a feast of possibilities posited by what he sweetly refers to as his panel of artist “blabbermouths” — local creatives Marie EvB Gibbons, Lonnie Hanzon and Jimmy Sellars — tonight at the Denver Central Library.

“My dream,” notes Loffelmacher, “is for this to be the first annual eatART event.” And, at best, he seems to be on the right track: “I just want to not have a save-the-world evening. Let’s open up the conversation with an evening that’s ideally fun and informative and, at its very best, helps our audience feel a little more connected with the art community.”
