A Little Scary

Building dioramas is a time-honored tradition for kids of all ages, but as the dioramas get more complex, some of those kids lose sight of how to make them. Today and tomorrow at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, children will have a chance to learn how to make intricate Halloween-themed dioramas out of repurposed materials.

“It’s great for parents and kids to work together on these,” says museum assistant director Jillian Allison. “It’s good for problem-solvers and helps them figure out how to make new things from old objects.”

A Halloween Diorama Workshop, designed for children five and older, starts today at 1 p.m. at the museum, 1880 Gaylord Street; the cost is $8 for kids and $5 for adults, which includes museum admission. A Robot and Monsters Workshop takes place tomorrow at the same location from 1 to 3 p.m.; admission is $2. For more information and to reserve a spot, visit www.dmmdt.org or call 303-322-1053.
