Turner Jackson

My Heart Needs Space
Self-released

From the poppy hooks on songs like "If You Like Too" to the crazy rhymes he delivers (in the third person, with voice effects) on "The Falling," it's obvious that Turner Jackson has a variety of musical influences. The lyrics on My Heart Needs Space are honest and personal; Jackson gets pretty sentimental — to the point where it's almost uncomfortable at times — but his expressive style recalls Slug pouring out oceans of emotion. Standout tracks like "A2," in which the beat is bonkers, the raps are on point and the hook is brilliant, balance others, like "Spaced Out Juliet," that just fail to register. But with production from Q-Knox, A-L, Big J Beats and Kid Hum, My Heart Needs Space sounds like a complete piece of work.

Always glad to see a piece without any grammar problems. Thanks. This page appears to be posting my comment as coming from Beahbunnie, but that's some technical flaw-- I'm actually Shep the hiphopmom.
