Broken Records

Dan Rollman's interest in setting world records began when he was ten years old and got his first copy of the Guinness Book of World Records. He loved the idea of someday becoming the world's best at something, but when he looked into it, he discovered that there's a lot of red tape involved with getting in that hallowed book. Years later, Rollman and friend Cory Henderson have authored their own record-setting book: The RecordSetter Book of World Records.

"We have a core philosophy that everyone can be the world's best at something, and so we just make it a lot easier to set a world record," says Rollman.

It's simple: to set a world record, all you need to do is choose a record, document yourself setting it, and upload the proof to RecordSetter.com. From "Longest High-Five" to "Most Sexual Innuendos in a Potato-Themed Rap Song," the RecordSetter website features more than 10,000 unique and often bizarre records. The book features lists of many of these incredible feats, as well as profiles of RecordSetters, world records that have yet to be set, and tips on how to set your own. At every stop along the book tour, the RecordSetters have set a new record and brought out local overachievers. In Denver, the new record will be for the largest group to dance the Macarena in a bookstore, and in Boulder, Justin's Peanut Butter is sponsoring the most people to eat peanut butter cups at one time.
