Though Patsy Cline played her last show in 1963, Kelley Zinge will bring her back to life tonight when she stars in A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline, a tribute to the legendary country singer. A local jazz singer who's found success in her own right, Zinge has performed this show around the country with the approval of the Patsy Cline estate. And at these particular performances, she'll be backed by a band full of what she says are some of Colorado's best musicians. "It starts out with her as a young teenager and follows her from home town to honky-tonk to the Grand Ole Opry, Las Vegas and Carnegie Hall," Zinge explains. And along the way, she gets a chance to belt out some of Cline's still-enchanting hits, including "Walkin' After Midnight" and "I Fall to Pieces."

The songs are just as profound today as they were when Cline wrote them. "I love her music. She put her whole heart into it," Zinge explains. "Even though I'm singing in my voice, I really try to do what she did, which is enjoy every moment of the song." And the audience gets to enjoy every moment, too. A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline opens at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, 2344 East Iliff Avenue; it repeats at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, and again at 2 p.m. Sunday.
