If you're at all familiar with the work of Tiffany Smyth -- she won a 2009 Best of Denver award for her masks, available at her ArtsMyths boutique on South Broadway -- then you might kinda, sorta know what to expect at tonight's Fashion, Music, Dance event, featuring ArtsMyths and J Chan Design work. "We wanted to do a fashion show, because it's good motivation to get a bunch of things done," Smyth explains. "I've done a lot of fashion shows in the past, but they've been organized by other people. We're dealing with people on different levels with this show."
Those people include members of two bands -- Constant Tourist and the Gora Gora Orkestre -- as well as dancers offering an excerpt from the Apex Contemporary Dance Company's most recent show. "Most of my models are professional performers," Smyth notes. "I have jugglers, swing dancers, belly dancers, hoopers -- so it's going to be unlike any fashion show anybody's ever seen." And that includes an array of clothing and accessories you won't see anywhere outside of Black Rock City: Think steampunk meets faeries meets the Renaissance.
The show will occupy the Mercury Cafe, 2199 California Street, at 7:30 p.m. tonight; admission is $10. For more information, go to www.facebook.com/events/310748488950547/.
