All Is Bright

They've got butterflies, and they've got lights. Also, glowing scorpions -- and in the museum's Rainforest conservatory, "firefly" lights imitating the real thing. And you say you were looking for something different this holiday season? The halls of the Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center, normally, um, a beehive of invertebrate activity, have been decked out with anything but holly, and that makes for creepy-crawly family fun (we did say glowing scorpions, didn't we?). It all begins with a gaily lit exterior augmented by incandescent themed sculptures in the Discovery Garden, then moves inside, where fluorescent insects will turn especially eerie under black lights, and a live-animals display and exhibits on Bugs in Winter and Fireflies add an educational element.
