You're guaranteed a white Christmas Eve at Winter Park. "The families who come here for Christmas Eve have been coming here for years, and sometimes even for several generations," says Rachel Anderson, spokeswoman for the ski area. "It's a great tradition, and a fantastic way to spend the holiday on the slopes with Santa, who has been known to get a few turns in after making his rounds. This year my whole family's coming out for it."

Hit the slopes today, then grab a hot drink and head for the base of the Zephyr Express for carols and a bonfire at 4 p.m. The traditional torchlight parade makes its way down Lower Hughes at 5:30 p.m., followed by fireworks and a snowcat-powered light show on the mountain. Christmas Eve mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. at the West Portal Level 4; an interdenominational service will be held in the lower level of the Balcony House at the same time.
