Denver may be the thirteenth-drunkest city, but we're tops in beer

Visit Denver, the Mile High City's convention and visitors' bureau, released a short video last week highlighting our burgeoning craft-beer scene. The video featured Charlie Berger of Denver Beer Co, Bryan Balzell of Great Divide, Stuart Close of Breckenridge Brewing, the Colorado Brewers Guild's Steve Kurowski and the ever-ebullient Marty Jones of the Wynkoop Brewing Company.

It didn't mention the region's most well-known non-craft brew, of course, but Coors still got some love all its own to close out 2011. On December 29, Consumer Reports named Coors Original (still brewed entirely in Colorado, by the way) as the best-tasting canned lager of the ten it tested. The Banquet Beer had citrus notes, balanced flavors and no off-notes, the magazine said, and as a result, it beat out other big brands like Budweiser, Miller High Life and Corona.

Likely less appetizing for Coors, now known as MillerCoors, was a photo of the company's non-alcoholic beer that was inexplicably pictured in an article on the Daily Beast website ranking the nation's drunkest cities. Denver was listed as a disappointing thirteenth, behind places like Burlington, Vermont (11th); Austin, Texas (7th); and Reno, Nevada (4th). Boston got the top spot on the list, which analyzed drinking data from more than 200 cities. A photo of Coors Non Alcoholic went along with the blurb on Denver, which took top honors as the Drunkest City when Men's Journal did its own poll four years ago.

One place where you might find some Coors NA? Tim Tebow's house. After all, the Denver Broncos QB doesn't drink. And that may have been part of the reason he landed on top of another list: Zillow's fifth annual Celebrity Neighbor Survey, which asked voters which celebrity they'd most like to live near. With 11 percent of the vote, Tebow beat out Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston and Nancy Grace, among others, as the most desired celebrity neighbor. But then, Tebow probably doesn't throw many wild parties.

The least desirable celebrity neighbors included the cast of Jersey Shore, Lindsay Lohan and reknowned partier and one-time Aspen resident Charlie Sheen, whose neighbors there are certainly glad to be rid of the #winning one.
