Now she wants to see how it could impact others, which is how the Birth of Venus exhibit was born. Knoll invited a group of artists to create their own unique interpretations of the Renaissance masterpiece. The diverse group includes everything from D.D. Seaton's depiction of Venus with her skirt blowing up a la Marilyn Monroe to Abbas Khajeaian's more abstract interpretation. "It's very nice for people to come in and see how differently the same subject can be interpreted," says Knoll.
Come view the many incarnations of the goddess of love today from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Niza Knoll Gallery, 915 Santa Fe Drive; an official reception will be held tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m. The show stays up through February 4; for more information, visit www.nizaknollgallery.com.
