The O'Sullivan Art Gallery at Regis University has been presenting shows for years, and a frequent theme is the Latino/Latina experience. This focus dovetails perfectly with the institution's Jesuit underpinnings, since Hispanic culture in the Southwest is predominantly Roman Catholic. But that doesn't mean the O'Sullivan is limited to displaying sacred art. In fact, it's dedicated to featuring contemporary art, such as the individually distinctive work featured in Tu y Yo: Maruca and Daniel Salazar.

"The Salazars celebrate what they call a hybrid culture that straddles the Mexican-American border," muses Robert St. John, the gallery's director. "They share a passion for social and political issues, but there is no mistaking which artworks belong to which artist. Daniel's art is irreverent, playful and at times even humorous, while Maruca's work is more introspective and contemplative."
