"As scary as it is, '80s is now vintage," says Reyna Von Vett, aka Cora Vette, Black Box madame extraordinaire. "I wanted to do a John Hughes burlesque show, but it became too focused to make a whole show out of it," Von Vett explains, "so we broadened it. We've got stuff from Weird Science, Flashdance, Footloose, 16 Candles, Caddyshack. Another boy dancing around in his underwear a la Risky Business, because how can you not do that? Top Gun, Dirty Dancing, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, 9 to 5 -- it's all over the place.
"The only thing I know is, I'm starting out singing 'Que Sera, Sera' as Corn Nuts," she concludes.
The show starts at 8:30 p.m. at Bar Standard, 1037 Broadway. Tickets are $10 online or at the door, or $25 for VIP admission, which gets you bottle service and the best table in the house. For details, visit www.coravette.com.
