Get Wet at Keystone

Spring sprung awfully early in the high country this year, but for the Keystone Slush Cup, that's actually a good thing. "The Slush Cup is our annual pond-skimming contest, and it's all about getting wet and having some fun in the sun," says Keystone Resort spokeswoman Laura Parquette. "We encourage zany costumes, and the competitors with the most spectacular wipeouts get rewarded at least as much as the people who actually make it across the pond. Nobody takes themselves too seriously at the Slush Cup.

More About

"Needless to say, this is also a great spectator event," Parquette adds. "It's a fun, festive way to close out the season, celebrate spring skiing, and check out the great apres-ski scene all over the mountain and in the village."

Ready to get wet? Keystone is offering buy-one-get-one-free lift-ticket deals for its closing weekend and slashing accommodation packages in half. Registration for the competition itself ($35) begins at 10 a.m. at the Mountain House Base Area, and the splashdown begins at noon, with 100 pond-skimmers going for broke and a top-ten showdown beginning at 2:30 p.m. To register online, visit www.keystoneresort.eventbrite.com.
