Hey, classicists: Before you shake your heads and moan about tonight's concert, The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, in Boettcher Hall, consider how many seats will be filled by people who've never been in an orchestra concert hall before. So what if some of those people will be wearing outlandish costumes and the music is compiled from video-game themes? It's music, after all, and it sounds pretty darn good performed live.

That's what tour producer Jason Michael Paul says, and he's had some experience with stuff like this, serving as tour manager for Luciano Pavarotti and the Three Tenors, traveling attractions also known for packing houses with more than the usual classical habitues. He's also toured shows dedicated to the music of Final Fantasy and other games, and always to resounding popularity. "The people who composed this music never had the tools we have now to create full-blown orchestral suites," Paul notes, adding that the results are spectacular enough to attract more than the cosplay crowd.
