In The Rough

"For the Tough Mudder adventure race, we're changing Beaver Creek's slogan from 'Not exactly roughing it' to 'Definitely roughing it,'" says spokeswoman Jen Brown. "This race is hard-core, with obstacles designed by British Special Forces that will challenge you in ways you never thought possible."

More About

That's no understatement: The dozen obstacles along the twelve-mile race route could include the "Arctic Enema," the "Boa Constrictor" and "Electroshock Therapy," among others. Registration is $200 to race on either Saturday or Sunday and includes a T-shirt, a beer, and live music at the after-party. Spectator tickets -- worth every penny -- are available for $20 in advance at www.toughmudder.com or $25 at the event. Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume, Worst Costume, Most Likely to Have Been in the Village People, and -- ahem -- Least Clothing, as well as for Toughest Mullet and Toughest Mohawk: Stop by the BIC 4 Good tent and let them redo your 'do with the new BIC Flex4 Razor, and the company will donate $4 to the Wounded Warrior Project.

If, after all that, "Not exactly roughing it" sounds pretty good after all, ask for the Tough Mudder lodging specials at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa or check out other lodging deals at www.beavercreek.com.
