To Infinity and Beyond

Look out for twisters tonight at Infinity Park. No, not the dangerous ones. We're talking about magical twisters -- the ones that drop houses on wicked witches and blow girls and dogs to the land of Oz. To kick off its Monday Movie Madness series, the City of Glendale is showing the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz on its jumbo screen for an outdoor family movie night.

"The focus has really been on showing movies that our viewers want to see," says creative director Drew Anneberg. "I'm big into musicals and fun-loving adventures. I like getting taken away, and hopefully everyone will, too." That's why this year, viewers chose the movie series through a Facebook contest. Every other Monday night through August, the park will host a family flick with food vendors on hand. Bring your own blankets, chairs and picnics and settle in for an evening on a yellow brick road full of singing munchkins, ruby slippers and flying monkeys.

It all takes off tonight at 8 p.m. at Infinity Park, 4599 East Tennessee Avenue; Monday Movie Madness continues every other Monday with Ghostbusters (June 25), The Goonies (July 9), Toy Story (July 23), E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (August 6) and The Princess Bride (August 20). The movies are free; for more information, visit www.infinityparkatglendale.com.
