Marijuana and comedy go together like PB&J and the munchies. Perhaps not so coincidentally, those are all subjects covered in The Marijuana-Logues, a three-person off-Broadway comedy being put on this weekend at the Comedy Works in Larimer Square.
The long-running show riffs on the more famous Vagina Monologues in form, with comedians Tony Camin, Dan Gabriel and Rob Cantrell swapping stories on the highs and lows of cannabis culture instead of their private parts. Cantrell, a well-known, self-professed stoner, is a contributing writer at High Times and has been a judge at the magazine's annual Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam and an emcee at NORML's Hollywood fundraiser. In The Marijuana-Logues, the trio covers things like the safety of your pot dealer, what non-stoners think of stoners, and the various names for the green herb -- all major topics of concern for potheads.
You've got five chances to catch The Marijuana-Logues this weekend, starting with a $17 show tonight at 8 p.m. There are two more shows tomorrow, at 8 and 10 p.m., and two on Sunday, at 7:15 and 9:45 p.m.; tickets for those performances are $25. The Comedy Works is at 1226 15th Street; for tickets and information, call 303-595-3637 or go to www.comedyworks.com.
