Freedom Riders

Considering that the United States was built on the radical concept that happiness and comfort should be accessible to everyone, our national independence came at an inconvenient time of year: Battling extreme July heat and that all-permeating dust that’s all too common at outdoor festivals is no small task. And more often than not, the Fourth of July ends up being a long wait for the cool of dusk.

So rejoice, ye who have wearied of celebrating your liberty with sweat and monotony: The good people at Denver Cruiser Ride present an alternative — an Independence Day edition of their weekly cyclists’ romp, complete with an America F*ck Yeah! theme.

“There’s a certain kind of freedom that goes with bikes,” says Denver Cruiser chief Brad Evans. “For a lot of people, riding a bike is the first taste.”

The ride starts at 7 p.m., when local patriots and their bicycles, all decked out in red, white, and blue, will meet up at various central Denver locations before converging in Civic Center Park. Find out the details and locations at www.denvercruisers.com.
Wed., July 4, 7 p.m., 2012
