More About

You’d almost think his persona was somehow crossed with James Bond’s in the sinkhole of time, and in a new thriller by Francine Mathews (you might know Mathews as Stephanie Barron) called Jack 1939, a youthful and completely imaginary Jack Kennedy is dropped into a spy-versus-spy tale of pre-war espionage. President Roosevelt, it seems, needs the help of the Harvard scholar, who is researching his senior thesis in Europe, and calls on Kennedy to spy on the Germans in order to overthrow a plot to unseat the American president by funneling money to his opposition in the 1940 election. Continental travel, sexy romance and a serial killer keep things interesting as the engaging Jack tries to uncover the truth.

Does this sound like the stuff of a good summeetime yarn? We thought so, too. Mathews will discuss and sign the book tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover Book Store, 2526 East Colfax Avenue. Find more details at www.tatteredcover.com or call 303-322-7727.
