More Geek Than Greek

The 2012 Olympic Games kick off in London next week, but you can participate in games of a different kind today at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. In the Geek Olympics, teams compete in a variety of Olympics-inspired challenges around the museum for the chance to win prizes such as tickets to other museum events, museum swag and medals. And don’t worry if you haven’t stayed on top of your training down at the gym; this event is an excuse to flex your brain, not your pecs.

More About

“You won’t be throwing a discus through the window or anything, but you might be doing a silly version of that. It’s not about muscles; it’s about your mental fortitude,” says Marc Levine, the museum’s assistant curator of Mesoamerican archaeology. “You’re going to solve and experiment your way to winning these different challenges.”

While you do that, you can also enjoy drinks at the cash bar. The 21+ event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. in the Science Lounge of the museum, 2001 Colorado Boulevard. Tickets are $8 for DMNS members, $10 for non-members. For advance tickets and additional info, visit www.dmns.org/sciencelounge.
Thu., July 19, 6:30 p.m., 2012
