“The whole point of it is that — whether you go to Green Garage or any other garage — when you get your car serviced, you know a little bit about what’s going on,” says spokeswoman Jill Thompson.
A typical evening begins with a group nosh and shmooze, followed by opening words from Green Garage CEO Ryan Ferrero. Then guests break up into smaller groups to visit various stations. At one, there’s a hands-on primer on changing a tire; at another, Thompson says, “we bring the car up and point out everything underneath it.” Lastly, the Green Garage mechanics take students under the hood: “We show you where to check fluids, what everything is, what you can check and how often you should do it.” Everyone ends up at a big, lively Q&A session that sometimes even ends up with a look under the hood of an audience member’s car.
Women, Wine and Wrenches begins at 6 p.m. at the Green Garage, 2900 Zuni Street, and the entire thing is free. For information, or to RSVP, go to www.facebook.com/events/240766422701898.
