After a fateful gig at Beerland in Austin, the guys in Parque Touch asked the bassist of Peach Train to join them. After another lineup change, the remaining members changed their name to White Denim. Instead of opting for one specific style or aesthetic, the band weaves together strands of different styles of music for a sound with mutant song structures and warped melodies. The results of this complete disregard for a singular songwriting style can be heard on White Denim's 2009 album Fits, which comes off like an act trying out countless ideas until they've fully coalesced. Essentially an art-rock band with a sense of humor and a pronounced knack for writing eccentric pop songs, this foursome recalls the Flaming Lips if that group had been way more into Grand Funk Railroad.
