Funny Things Happen

Though laugh tracks conjure up unfunny sitcoms and forced chuckles, the Laugh Track Comedy Festival offers real belly laughs that don’t need to be cued by a sound engineer. The organizers of the festival, now in its third year, have added another day and another venue to the fun, so this year, there will be more than forty comedians, thirty comedic short films and a whole slew of parties to celebrate the things that make our sides split.

The event showcases comedians hand-picked by brothers and co-directors Evan and Adam Nix, including locals like Westword MasterMind Andrew Orvedahl, Sam Tallent and Mara Wiles as well as traveling standup performers like Andy Sell, Amy Miller and Mo Welch.

“Denver has this emerging comedy scene that’s really burgeoning right now,” explains Evan Nix. “Part of [the festival] is to bring in travelers to expose them to what we have going on here, and of course part of it is also to expose the people here to some of the comedians elsewhere.”
