She started her popular blog, The Bloggess, in 2006, and her new, mostly true memoir, Let's Pretend This Never Happened, debuted this spring in the number-one slot on the New York Times bestseller list.
"I think that so many people can relate to the fact that at least at one time in their life they have felt like they don't fit in, they're awkward in some way, there was something that they wanted to pretend never happened," says Lawson. "And as we get older, we start to realize that weird can be good. Weird can actually be great." Her book is a celebration of the weird, relating anecdotes from her childhood up through her current life as a wife, mother and writer with irreverent humor and surprising candor.
Lawson will read, sign and answer questions about her book tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover LoDo, 1628 16th Street; free numbered tickets for the signing will be handed out starting at 6:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.tatteredcover.com or www.thebloggess.com.
