Just because there are no good beaches in Denver doesn’t mean there are no good beach parties. Thanks to Tiki Fink Theatre, tonight you can enjoy the beach-party wonder that is The Beach Girls and the Monster, a 1965 cornball classic involving a mutant fish monster, a scientist who quits science to surf, and a whole lot of fun in the sun. “It’s pretty crappy,” promises Tiki Fink host Steve Antonio. “It’s just your typical beach-party movie with a sort of Creature From the Black Lagoon look-alike monster, music from Frank Sinatra Jr. and the Whisky a Go Go dancers.”
And just because a movie’s bad doesn’t mean that watching it won’t be a good time. After all, tonight’s party includes a groovy tiki setting, a fun crowd and lots of stiff tropical drinks, including Antonio’s personal recommendation to help the film go down easy. “Without a doubt, a Jet Pilot,” he advises. “It’s a rum-based drink [that’s] pretty complex, and it will kick your ass. I think it’s the strongest tiki drink known to man.”
