That elegant comic touch is the centerpiece of The Horse’s Mouth, which stars Guinness as an eccentric painter seeking the perfect wall to realize his artistic vision. The film was a showcase for Guinness’s writing talents, and the screenplay, which he adapted from a novel, earned him an Oscar nomination.
