Not So Sweet Dreams

A man finds himself trapped in a strange netherworld of dreams, where no one ever dies and Che Guevara and Marilyn Monroe wander together through 9/11 memorials talking philosophy. This surreal vision comes to life in Denver writer Rudy Ch. Garcia’s debut novel The Closet of Discarded Dreams, where an amnesiac hero fights to escape the lost dreams and aspirations of our own weird world.

More About

“It’s supposed to be a wonderful place, where everyone’s dreams -- abandoned dreams, but everyone’s dreams -- reside, but he’s anything but happy there,” Garcia says. “Eventually he becomes a rebel, and once he understands the laws and rules of this place, he formulates his own plan.” By the time it’s all over, Garcia promises, you’ll be looking at our own world in a new way. “One question that might come into your head is, really, which world is stranger -- the one that he’s in, or the one we’re in?” he says.

Garcia will read and sign the book today at 5 p.m. at Su Teatro, 721 Santa Fe Drive. The event is free, and copies of the book will be available for $5.95. For more information, visit www.discarded-dreams.com or call 303-296-0219.
