Today's Color Me Rad 5K at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield takes a runner's high to a whole new level with a hyper-hued splash of fun. Throughout this unique race, fitness junkies of all ages and athletic levels will encounter "color bomb squads" at every turn, as rainbow-tinted explosions of colored cornstarch temporarily dye participants red, yellow, purple and blue from head to toe.
"We always hear people saying that Color Me Rad is the quickest 5K they've done because they look forward to every color," says race spokeswoman Gretchen Willard. Already seeing sold-out success in cities across the country in its first year, the 5K puts an emphasis on the fun of physical fitness. Runners are asked to wear white apparel for full effect; sunglasses will be provided at check-in. Spectators are also welcome to watch and photograph the transformation of Color Me Rad runners as they zip through each "color zone"; participants can also purchase photos from on-site photographers.
