The members of New Directions in Digital Arts, a collective born in a class taught by multimedia artist Mark McCoin at the University of Colorado in Boulder, are right at home with the quest to forge the future of the multimedia installation. And, as McCoin has noted of the group in the past, “the motivating force behind the class is to set up performances, and that sort of kicks everyone in the tail to come up with pieces that come together in the wide-open field of possibilities.” This season’s product of his instruction and encouragement, Autogenesis, will unfold tonight at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art as a sensual, free-form experience.
