Written by Mork & Mindy and Anything but Love writer Wendy Kout, the play explores issues of female identity in the second half of life. The show, which makes its world premiere tonight, follows five California women from different backgrounds as they attend a seminar meant to help them express their ethics, hopes, dreams and life lessons. Lyles says she hopes women will recognize themselves in this refreshingly candid portrayal of a time in women’s lives that is not of-ten exposed in pop culture. “We’re all going through the same thing,” says Lyles. “We’re all looking for our purpose in life, even at fifty. And that’s okay.”

Naked in Encino opens tonight at Work|Space at the Laundry on Lawrence, 2701 Lawrence Street, and runs Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. until November 24. Kout will be in town for a reception after the premiere and a talk on November 3.
