Thanksjibbing

"If you're ready to emerge from your Thanksgiving food coma and burn some of those holiday calories off, Copper Mountain has plenty of activities to be thankful for," says resort spokeswoman Austyn Williams. "Our Olympic-sized, 22-foot superpipe will be opening for Thanksgiving weekend, and on Saturday, we also have our ninth annual Gobbler Chase 5K snowshoe race -- a benefit for the Copper Environmental Foundation -- and our eleventh annual Leftover Yam Jam, a ski and snowboard rail-jam contest that has become a Copper tradition."

More About

The Gobbler Chase starts at 11 a.m. today in Burning Stones Plaza at the Village at Copper base area (pre-register for $20 at VillageAtCopper.com or $25 on race day). Woodward at Copper will be hosting the Leftover Yam Jam at 1 p.m. on the jib rails and other features in Bouncer Park, near the base of the American Eagle chairlift (practice starts at noon, registration is $20). But the fun doesn’t end there. "Stick around afterward for the annual En Fuego celebration, featuring fireworks, bonfires, street performers, live music and the ceremonial lighting of our Christmas tree," advises Williams.
