Fashion Forward
What started out several decades ago as the Art for AIDS fundraiser has morphed into tonight’s Red Ball, a revamped take on creating awareness of the global AIDS crisis. Now in its fourth year, the Colorado AIDS Project’s fashion-forward benefit brings together twenty designers and more than a dozen salons for runway collaborations with approximately 100 local models. The event is centered around World AIDS Day and is designed to bring a fresh face to the importance of health education and support for those affected by the disease.

The Red Ball works to connect people in the community, says Colorado AIDS Project events coordinator Jeff Trujillo: “Red Ball has become a launching platform for our local talents. All designers’ work is handmade and hand-sewn, and 69 percent of our models are independent.” There will also be a silent auction featuring concert and show tickets, hotel and spa packages, celebrity-autographed items and more.
Red Ball guests can enjoy cocktails during the fashion show, which will be accented by aerial acrobatics, fire dancing and other choreographed performances. The 21+ event goes down tonight at 7 p.m. at the EXDO Event Center, 1399 35th Street. Tickets, $30 to $75, are available at www.redball.org.
