“We’re going to have the whole main street from It’s a Wonderful Life built inside, with food trucks and street lamps,” James says. “We’re re-creating a 1940s-themed salon, and we’ll be doing hair and makeup and styling, so girls can come in and get their whole pinup style done.”
There will also be a New Year’s Eve-style balloon drop with a live broadcast to Facebook, Twitter and the 1940s Ball website, and late-night dancing, a Christmas-themed burlesque show and a rockabilly holiday show starting at 11 p.m. — so night owls can keep the party going.
The ball runs from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the museum, 7711 East Academy Boulevard; tickets are $40 to $45. Visit www.1940sball.org or call 720-924-1945 for information.
