War and Peace

They’ve dealt with conflict in a war-torn country overseas, but the couple at the center of Time Stands Still — Curious Theatre Company’s new production — finds just as many emotional challenges and troubling issues back home in Manhattan. Pulitzer-winning playwright Donald Margulies’s Tony-nominated work makes its regional premiere in Denver tonight; it follows the relationship between Sarah, a photojournalist injured in Iraq, and her partner, James, as they grapple with issues of modern love.

More About

“It kind of asks the questions: What happens when you love someone so much and then you both start wanting different things? How do you reconcile our lives of relative safety in the United States with the horrors that are taking place around the globe?,” explains director Christy Montour-Larson. “I think a lot of people are grappling with that jarring juxtaposition.”

Time Stands Still opens tonight at 8 p.m. at Curious Theatre Company, 1080 Acoma Street, and runs through December 15, with performances Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets, $18 to $44, are available at the box office, at 303-623-0524, and at www.curioustheatre.org.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Nov. 3. Continues through Dec. 15, 2012
