Tired of being tempted by a kickass trailer full of action, intrigue and general awesomeness, only to have the actual movie fall flat? The solution to such disappointment is obvious: a feature-length highlight reel that strings together the very best parts of the world’s weirdest, wildest and most obscure genre films. Trailer War! is the most entertaining crash course in the freaky fringes of film history you’re likely to find.
“It was put together by the American Genre Film Archive, which is the only archive in the country that is preserving and distributing archival genre film,” explains Keith Garcia, programming manager for the Denver Film Society. “It’s about a hundred minutes of the greatest exploitation, sexploitation, horror, Hong Kong and just what-the-fuck trailers that ever existed.”
The teaserific trailer flick shows at 10 p.m. tonight and 10 p.m. tomorrow at the Sie FilmCenter, 2510 East Colfax Avenue, as part of the Watching Hour series. Tickets are $7 general admission and $5 for DFS members. Alternately, you can pony up $25 to see the movie and take home a copy on Blu-ray or DVD, with a portion of those proceeds going to the American Genre Film Archive.
