Night Lights

Ring in the New Year with neon clothes and glow sticks at the Black Light Skating Party -- Winter Park's annual New Year's Eve bash that's gotten a makeover with party lighting, ice skating and a new location. This year, the Winter Park-Fraser Chamber of Commerce is moving the party to the IceBox, the Fraser Valley Sports Complex's new, partially enclosed ice rink, and adding the fun of black lights. "We're hoping since it happens earlier in the night that people can enjoy and have some fun before the late-night festivities happen," explains special events director Kristyna Nedele. "You can come out and ice skate with your family and have a great time, and then later you can go out and enjoy the local music and the late-night scene in Winter Park."

The free Black Light Skating Party runs from 7 to 9 p.m. December 31 and includes hot cocoa, games and fireworks at 9 p.m. that will be visible from the rink. The IceBox is located on County Road 5 off Highway 40 in Fraser; for more information, visit www.playwinterpark.com.
