“His talent is so deep. To lose this man because of him living in poverty without insurance would be a catastrophic tragedy for so many who love him so dearly,” Spears says. “Personally, I simply will not abide the potential tragedy of his untimely death because he is uninsured.”
To this end, he’s set up a special benefit edition of his late-night TV-style variety show to help cover Marchant’s expenses. Rawlitix: All for the Love of Mike will pair comedy from members of the Fine Gentleman’s Club with music from Ezra David Darnell, Cop Circles and Marchant himself.
The show starts at 9 p.m. at Deer Pile, 206 East 13th Avenue, and Spears urges everyone to come early, as the space will fill up fast. The suggested donation is $10, but feel free to give more, as all proceeds go to help pay Marchant’s medical bills. For more information, visit tiny.cc/RawlitixMarchant.
