At the gathering, organized by Tolkien discussion society the Grey Havens Group, participants will have the chance to sing along to selections from their favorite science-fiction and fantasy movies, watch humorous skits and try their hands at a wide range of nerdy trivia. Costumes are highly encouraged.
Skeptics and Muggles are invited, too — and they can make new friends over a glass of Klingon Blood Wine (non-alcoholic) and TARDIS-shaped Dr. Who cookies. “Grey Havens Group does a lot of literacy-themed events to encourage family literacy,” says the group’s founder, Kelly Cowling. The soon-to-be nonprofit also throws library-based events throughout the year, as well as adults-only Tolkien and Harry Potter discussion groups.
