The 2013 incarnation of BIFF opens tonight at the Boulder Theater, 2032 14th Street, with Muscle Shoals, a documentary about the legendary Alabama sound studio where musicians from Aretha Franklin to the Rolling Stones recorded in the latter part of the twentieth century. The fest continues through Sunday with four action-packed days of independent film and a variety of special programming, including a Youth Pavilion; a Digital Media Symposium with NPR social-media strategist Andy Carvin and Microsoft futur-ist Blaise Agüera y Arcas; and a Call to Action program that inspires people to change the world through film.
With nightly parties, filmmakers in attendance and celebrity guests such as Peter Fonda, this year’s festival promises another great celebration of celluloid. For tickets and a full schedule of events, visit www.biff1.com.
