Undead Style

It might seem like zombies and fashion would mix about as well as oil and water, but that’s just because you haven’t thought about it nearly as much as Summer Jackson. Her annual March of the Zombies fashion extravaganza is kicking off its fifth year, and the combination of high fashion and the walking dead seems as natural as can be to her.

“If you think about it, if you were to get attacked during a zombie apocalypse, you would be turned in whatever outfit you were wearing,” she explains. “So you can pretty much design anything and have it be ‘zombie,’ as long as you have the blood and gore to go with it.”

As a bonus this year, the zombification process will be carried out live, so you can watch beautiful people transformed into necrotic, disgusting ghouls before your very eyes. There’s also an art show, with both zombie and non-zombie art, and music from Reno Divorce, Lost Point, Fallen and Forgotten and the Flash Mob.

The show starts at 7 p.m. at the Grizzly Rock, 5255 West Sixth Avenue (Sheridan and Sixth) in Lakewood. Admission to the all-ages event is $10. For more info and to buy tickets, visit www.marchzombies.com.
Sat., March 9, 7 p.m., 2013
