Started in 1987 by a trio of friends, Blue Man Group has since grown into a big business of highly skilled, if blue, performers. Their engaging and family-friendly multimedia show is hard to categorize — and since the performers apparently don’t speak on or off stage, they can’t supply a description, either. But expert musicianship combined with witty, wordless commentary on the everyday human experience told through movement make a Blue Man Group show a very colorful evening of theater.
Led by its signature trio of blue “humanoid” forms, Blue Man Group takes the audience on a journey of emotion and interaction, while a thread of percussion keeps everything running on an infectious rhythm. A live band accompanies the three performers as they dance, play bizarre hand-crafted instruments and manipulate light and sound in a way that has been consistently wowing audiences for more than 25 years. Video screens often present ideas for the three blue men, who do not utter a sound during the entire ninety-minute show. The result could leave you speechless, too.
