Save the Earth

Earth Day gets interactive today as the City of Denver invites residents to learn about fuel-efficient vehicles, biodiesel, proper recycling measures and other ways to proactively save the planet. Earth Day Denver will have something eco-friendly for everyone; the free expo takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Denver City and County Building Plaza, 1437 Bannock Street.

Organizers hope to connect with folks out on their lunch breaks. "Our target audience is always downtown residents and employees downtown. We just ask people take a break and come learn," says Earth Day Denver's Mim Mirsky.

Denver B-cycle will host yoga instructors at noon for a class focused on bike-rider-friendly stretches, while car lovers can check out the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's contributions to the near-zero-emissions vehicle showcase. There will also be several food trucks on site, all of whom will be in compliance with the city's request for recyclable and biodegradable materials to ensure a zero-waste day.
