Heavyweights of the local animation scene will gather tonight to show their work at the Denver Animated Pixelshow. Organized by Patrick Sheridan of the Emerging Filmmakers Project, Gio Toninelo of the GI Joe Fest and Dylan Otto Krider of the Ones and Zeros Pixelshow, the effort brings together some of the best work that’s appeared at all of those events in the past.
“It’s kind of a general view of what Denver has as far as animation goes, from students to professionals,” Toninelo says. “The idea was to put everything on one night, almost a mini-fest.”
Animation fans will see everything from a claymation take on Plato’s allegory of the cave to the crude, South Park-style scatalogical humor of Moist Pork. Other highlights include a piece by Emmy Award-winning animator Evert Brown, known for his work on Peanuts, bizarre puppet love stories, Lego-based work and something called My First Boner. Most of the filmmakers will also be on hand to talk about their work and answer questions.
