“It’s kind of a general view of what Denver has as far as animation goes, from students to professionals,” Toninelo says. “The idea was to put everything on one night, almost a mini-fest.”
Animation fans will see everything from a claymation take on Plato’s allegory of the cave to the crude, South Park-style scatalogical humor of Moist Pork. Other highlights include a piece by Emmy Award-winning animator Evert Brown, known for his work on Peanuts, bizarre puppet love stories, Lego-based work and something called My First Boner. Most of the filmmakers will also be on hand to talk about their work and answer questions.
The doors open at 7:30 p.m. at the Bug Theatre, 3654 Navajo Street, and the show starts at 8; tickets are $5. For more information, visit denveranimationfestival.com.
