Making the Cut

All semester, students at the Colorado Film School have been writing, developing and producing their own original short films. Tonight they'll unveil these projects to the public at the Spring 2013 Student Show, an opportunity to present their films in high resolution on the big screen. "The nicest thing is being able to see our students' work premiered on a full, theater-sized screen in a Digital Cinema Package," says CFS Student Success Coordinator Jennifer Scott. "It's a wonderful event to celebrate all of their achievements."

Prior to the screening, CFS faculty will judge the films and select those that will receive awards for technical merit, storytelling and originality. Scott says the films selected will span all genres -- from drama to comedy to documentary -- and a DVD of the selected shorts will be available for pre-order at the show.

Doors open at 7 p.m. at the Harkins Northfield 18 theaters in the Shops at Northfield Stapleton, 8300 West Northfield Boulevard; the screenings start at 7:30. Admission is free, but tickets will be handed out at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. An after-party will follow at La Sandia Cantina, 8340 Northfield Boulevard, Unit 1690.
