“As a horror movie, I thought the first one fell a little flat,” he says. “I wasn’t scared or unnerved by anything in it. But V/H/S/2 fixes all that. There are four really tight stories in this one, and the stories are all told point-of-view, which gives a fresh take on it. Especially for the last two, being made to feel that you’re there is the crux of what makes them so good.” Not only do these stories offer a fresh perspective on alien abductions, zombies and bizarre cults, but they’re crafted by some of the darkest up-and-coming directors working in the genre, including the people behind A Horrible Way to Die, Hobo With a Shotgun and The Blair Witch Project.
V/H/S/2 opens tonight at the Sie FilmCenter, 2510 East Colfax Avenue. Tickets are $10, or $7 for Denver Film Society members. For more information, visit denverfilm.org.
